Statement on Continuing Israel-Hamas War

As we approach 30 days since the horrific October 7 attack against Israel, the Jewish Federation of Greater Raleigh reaffirms its support of Israel and its right to defend itself against Hamas, a terrorist organization.

Our support is in line with the views of the vast majority of the Jewish community and the American population. According to a recent poll by Harvard CAPS/Harris, 88% of voters think Israel has the responsibility to protect its citizens by retaliating against Hamas.

Within our Jewish community there is a diversity of opinions. There are small fringe groups that claim to speak for the Jewish community, but their views do not represent the general consensus.

We encourage our community to continue acting in support of Israel. This includes:

  1. Urge your members of Congress to support a funding package with emergency aid to Israel, security dollars for Jewish community institutions, and support for the Ukrainian people in their fight for democracy.

  2. Support the upcoming Bring Them Home Shabbat Table installation in Downtown Raleigh on November 10 to bring awareness to the Israeli Hostages still in Gaza.

  3. Wear your blue ribbons in support of bringing home the hostages now.
