Jewish Community Relations Council

The Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) builds bridges of understanding and communication within our Jewish community and beyond to the general community.  Whether advocating for Jewish students, teachers and staff with Wake County Public Schools, meeting with government officials, exploring interfaith initiatives, or strengthening ties to Israel, JCRC represents the interests of our Jewish community everyday.

Committees

JCRC accomplishes its mission, in behalf of the Jewish community, through the work of its committees:

  • The Schools Committee addresses issues of Jewish identity, history, curriculum, and other relevant matters by maintaining ongoing relationships with public and private school administrators and educators.  It also supports NCSU Hillel programming and maintains a relationship with state-wide University Hillel.
  • The Israel Committee develops and implements communications and programming that addresses ongoing topics/issues regarding Israel.  It coordinates with the local Israeli community to facilitate programs that celebrate Israel’s achievements and its centrality to American Jewish life.  To help accomplish its work, it maintains relationships with Israel’s Consul General for the Southeastern US, the American-Israel Chamber of Commerce, and other important national Israel advocacy organizations.
  • The Media Committee works with local media to maintain fair and accurate coverage of issues relating to Israel and the Middle East, and other topics of interest to the local Jewish community.
  • The Security Committee works with local law enforcement officials to review and coordinate security plans for local Jewish facilities.
  • The Government Affairs Committee informs and educates city, county, and state government officials regarding issues of interest to the Jewish community.
  • The Interfaith Committee fosters cooperation and collaboration with organizations in Wake County to improve the level of understanding between the Jewish community and other faith-based communities.
  • The Social Action Committee works with other organizations in the areas of social justice and community service to improve the quality of life in Wake County.
