Beth Meyer Preschool, the early childhood education center at Beth Meyer Synagogue, is seeking a warm, energetic, and articulate Preschool Director. This is a full-time, year-round management position that requires collaboration with teaching staff, parents, synagogue professional staff and lay leaders.

A suitable candidate will have expertise in child development, early childhood education administration and staff management. The ideal candidate will also have excellent interpersonal skills, initiative, flexibility, and independent judgment. The Director will be dedicated to promoting an appreciation for Jewish culture and values.  In addition, they should be passionate about building a nurturing, dynamic and engaging community to serve families and their children.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA in Early Childhood Education or Child/Family Development or related field, MA a plus
  • Experience in Early Childhood Education administration, teaching experience preferred

Our preschool director will oversee the day-to-day operations of the school. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Recruiting, training and supervision of staff
  • Abide by and communicate policies to staff and parents
  • Assist in the resolution of conflicts between parents, teachers or students
  • Establish a sound operating budget and insure compliance
  • Recruitment and retention of families
  • Ensuring health and safety practices are compliant
  • Creating a positive, family friendly environment


  • 3 or more years of experience in management and education, including strong financial and computer skills
  • A./B.S. in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or other related degree
  • Clear criminal background check
  • Adult/Child CPR & First Aid Certification; if not current, must obtain within 3 months of hire
  • Have a valid NC Driver’s License
