Camp JCC Counselor
REPORTS TO: REPORTS TO: Camp, Youth & Family Engagement Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Camp JCC Madrichim (counselors) are positive role models who supervise and engage campers, plan activities, and work as part of a team with a positive attitude, flexibility, and energy throughout each day.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Protect the health and safety (emotional and physical) of all campers
Provide experiences that promote individual and group growth
Actively participate in all aspects of the camp experience with the campers
Serve as a role model for young children while emphasizing Jewish values
Follow the assigned work schedule and specific camp group schedule
Plan and lead activities for group times, transition times, and other programs as determined by supervisor(s)
Participate in all camper activities and interact with the campers during these activities
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)
REQUIREMENTS
At least a rising Junior in High School
Previous experience working with children, preferably in a day camp setting. Desire and ability to work with children and teens
Ability to relate to one’s peer group
Ability to accept supervision and guidance
CPR, First Aid and AED certifications are required. There may be an opportunity to get these certificates in a pre-camp training
Must possess integrity, adaptability, enthusiasm, patience, thoughtfulness, and self-control
Set a good example for campers and others including cleanliness, punctuality, and sportsmanship
Positive, “can do” attitude which is demonstrated by a willingness to pitch in and help wherever needed as well as an ability to anticipate what is needed
WORK SCHEDULE:
Applicant must be available to work Monday through Friday, June 10 through August 9 (8 weeks of camp plus staff week) from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
