Join us for one of our JCC 25th anniversary feature programs!
“Food is our common ground, a universal experience” (James Beard). With this idea in mind, through our Cooking with Rachael: Around the World Dinner Series, we will explore the foods, flavors and history of the Jewish diaspora stopping off in a different country each time. We will make and enjoy vegetarian (with gluten free and vegan options in many cases) dishes inspired by the traditional dishes of each country. On this exciting and tasty journey we will be reminded that while our cuisines may taste different, they share many common elements, among them the intention to nourish not just our bodies but also our spirits. There is a seat for everyone at the table, so grab your passport and let’s go eat around the world!
In this first installment of our Around the World Dinner Series we will visit the Dominican Republic. We will discuss, make, and taste some of the foods and flavors of this country’s cuisine (with some healthy swaps where appropriate) while exploring some of the history and culture of the country and it’s part in the Jewish diaspora. Instruction and discussion will conclude with a full vegetarian dinner and a cocktail. (Food sensitivities can be accommodated, please indicate them upon registration). ¡Vamos a DR!
Be sure to keep an eye out for the second installment of Around the World Dinner Series when we will hop over to another Caribbean island, Cuba! Coming to the JCC on August 15, 2019
