JCC The Joy of Colored Pencils
Fridays, 10:30am-11:15am; Oct 16, 23, 30, & Nov 6
An introduction to colored pencils techniques and materials for beginners.
Colored Pencils are amongst the most underrated art medium for beginners of all ages. If you can hold a pencil, you can learn wonderful ways to make your colored pencil “paintings” sing on the page.
Whether you have drawn before, or not since elementary school, or even if you “can’t draw a straight line,” you will be pleased at how quickly you can become proficient and turn out greeting cards, pet portraits, or adult coloring pages that you can be proud of.
In these four, short online lessons, you will learn about:
Tools of the trade: different kinds of colored pencils, papers, sharpeners, erasers, blenders
Techniques: Tracing, layering, crosshatching, scumbling, blending, burnishing
Composition and color theory in a nutshell
Students will have the option to trace images from greeting cards or books, onto their drawing paper, to avoid the fear of drawing accurately and realistically.
A supply list and suggested online resources will be emailed upon registration.
