Michael Twitty, in conversation with Marcie Cohen Ferris

Hutchins Lecture by Michael Twitty in conversation with moderator Marcie C. Ferris, focused on the new, much anticipated publication, Kosher Soul: The Food and Faith Journey of an American Jew (HarperCollins, 2022). Michael Twitty will meet with UNC students earlier in the day.

Michael Twitty is a food writer, independent scholar, culinary historian, and historical interpreter at the intersection of American and southern Jewish history, and African American history and foodways. His last book The Cooking Gene: A Journey Through African American Culinary History in the Old South, won two James Beard Awards in 2018 for best book of the year and best food writing. Michael Twitty is well-known not only for his written work, but his powerful, engaged public presentations and Ted talks.
