Speaker Luncheon: "The Czech Torah Scroll Story: from WWII to their Diaspora"

  • David R. Kahn Community Campus 12804 Norwood Road Raleigh, NC, 27613 United States (map)

Program Description: The Czech Torah Scroll Story: from WWII to their Diaspora

Only by a series of miracles did a huge cache of Czech Torah scrolls, although barely usable, survive the Shoah, and today they stand as a memorial to hope and to the vanished communities which once treasured them. The Memorial Scrolls Trust has restored and entrusted 1,400 of these precious scrolls to be on permanent loan to caring communities around the world and Raleigh is fortunate to house one. This presentation, live on zoom, explores the miraculous story of these scrolls.

Lois Roman is a trustee of the Memorial Scrolls Trust, a London based non-profit, and serves as their US Representative on the East Coast. A graduate of Brandeis U, Lois holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, and an MA in Holocaust and Genocide Studies from Yeshiva U.
