"While at its heart, this is a book of recipes, in its soul, it is a book of stories: life-affirming and uplifting stories about a community of remarkable people who have nourished and nurtured their families for decades. One important constant through all the hardships and degradation was the food they remembered."

About the Author: June Feiss Hersh, a New Rochelle native, initially taught third and fourth grade before joining her family’s lighting business. Following the sale of the company in 2004, When her family sold the company in 2004, June’s sister remarked, “We did well, now let’s do good.” That’s when June embarked on her food writing career, penning cookbooks with a charitable flavor. June's dedication to making a positive impact led her to a remarkable food writing career. She has penned five books, each infused with a charitable flavor, focusing on the Holocaust, Jewish food, and food history. All of her works generate proceeds for charitable organizations.

When June is not crafting and chronicling culinary histories, she finds joy in traveling, playing with her delightful dog Mallomar, and cherishing the title of Nana bestowed upon her by Henry, Daisy, and Aria. Residing in New York with her husband of 47 years, June is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in elementary education and holds a master’s degree in gifted and talented education.

Join us for an enriching celebration of food, stories, and the resilience of the human spirit.
