Jewish Federation of Raleigh-Cary Celebrates Multiple Milestones

The Jewish Federation of Raleigh-Cary has many reasons to celebrate. The Jewish Federation installed their new Board of Trustees at a community meeting on Wednesday, October 30th . The meeting, which took place at the Jewish Community Center, was well attended and included many notable guest speakers.

Associate Justice Mark Davis was there to install the new officers and trustees. The Executive Director of Active Good, Amber Smith, was the featured keynote speaker. Smith spoke about the importance of volunteering in the community and how any person can make an impact through service. Shortly after the board was installed, the new Federation President, Jamie Eliahu, spoke about her plans for the organization.

“I am passionate about our community and the future we can create together,” said Eliahu. “Expanding our volunteer base is extremely important to the vitality of the [Jewish] Federation…We can’t reach any of our goals without our community.”

The Raleigh-Cary Jewish Community Center (the JCC is a beneficiary agency of the Federation) will also be celebrating its 25th anniversary with a gala at the Brier Creek Country Club on Sunday, November 3rd. The event will honor the founding members of the JCC who in 1994 purchased 15 acres of land on Norwood Road. Today the JCC sits on 30 acres recently dedicated as the David R. Kahn Community Campus.

“The JCC has shared so many wonderful community programs over the years,” said Mindy Haas, Director of Operations at the Jewish Federation of Raleigh-Cary. “From Camp JCC to book clubs, aquatics classes, cooking classes and more, there is something for everyone here.”

The JCC has over 400 members and hosts more than 250 programs per year. For more information about the gala and the Board of Trustees, please visit the Jewish Federation of Raleigh-Cary’s website www.shalomraleigh.org or call 919-676-2200.
