What I'm Grateful For
This year was a quieter Thanksgiving for Mindy, Simon, and me, as we as we decided not to travel. (We are expecting baby number two in just a few weeks!)
Still, we had the chance to take stock of what we’re grateful for, including our family near and far, all the friendships we’ve made in life – including here in Raleigh, and the great community we feel lucky to live in now.
As I think about the Jewish Federation and the year we’ve had so far, several more reasons to be grateful spring to mind:
The support from Wake County, Raleigh, and Cary government representatives, law enforcement officials, and leaders of community organizations during a time of rising antisemitic events locally and nationally.
The leadership of the Jewish community that I have the privilege to engage with. I particularly appreciate all the support I’ve received as a new leader in the community. From connections made, to advice, to feedback and mentorship, I appreciate everyone who has had a hand in helping me lead in my first two years in Raleigh. I’m so impressed by the time our volunteer leaders give to the community, particularly the trustees on the Federation’s board. I am thankful for both financial support and time donated by volunteer leaders to the Jewish Federation, in addition to all of the great Jewish organizations and synagogues in our community. The Greater Raleigh Jewish community is in great hands.
The Federation’s tireless, dedicated professional staff. Every day, our staff come to work dedicated to our mission to serve and engage our community. Whether through offering direct social services to the community, working with volunteer leaders to plan engaging and welcoming programs, stewarding and connecting with our board and donors, or the behind-the-scenes work that make our mission possible, our staff are an extraordinary group of committed people who care deeply about this community.
And, finally, I’m grateful for you. Thank you for taking the time to listen to me, and for sharing your thoughts with me all year. I read every message and appreciate the care you have for our organization. You are the reason the Jewish Community of Greater Raleigh is great!
Phil Brodsky
Executive Director
