Update on COVID-19 Policies
The health and well-being of our community have been of the utmost priority for the Jewish Federation and it's agencies, JCC, JFS and JCRC, over the last two years.
Therefore, at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Federation’s Board of Trustees created a special Medical Advisory Committee led by local health experts to help guide the board and staff on what policies to set to continue our mission of building Jewish community. Since its establishment, the Medical Advisory Committee has met regularly with Federation staff and Board of Trustees to evaluate and update the Federation’s COVID-19 protocols.
As data on COVID-19 has become more readily available, the following three key metrics have come to inform our decisions about the best way to keep our clients, volunteers, program participants, JCC members and staff healthy and safe:
Transmission of the COVID-19 virus in our community
Hospital capacity
Rate of vaccination in community
Based on those metrics, Wake County is currently considered in an area of low transmission, and therefore we have updated our current COVID-19 protocols.
Policies Applying to All Federation Facilities, Meetings, Programs and Events (Onsite or Offsite)
Concerning Exposure to COVID-19 or Experiencing Symptoms
If recently exposed to COVID-19 or diagnosed with COVID-19, we ask that everyone follow current CDC guidelines for isolation and quarantine before entering a Federation facility or attending a Federation program or event.
Use of Face Coverings
For all staff, volunteers, participants and visitors, use of face coverings is based on your personal preference.
Staff and volunteers who are handling food must wear a face covering.
Surgical grade masks will be available at all Federation facilities.
Programs and services that serve high-risk populations may have different protocols that will be communicated with participants as needed.
Indoor and in-person programming
Federation is excited to offer in-person programming both indoors and outdoors at this time.
Programs may be held indoors, and while we are in a low transmission area, food may be served indoors.
Programs and services that serve high-risk populations may have different protocols that will be communicated to participants.
JCC Programs
For J-Rays swim team, youth athletics, and JSports:
These programs are following the above policies. Face coverings are now optional based on personal preference, and we are offering both indoor and outdoor programming.
Camp JCC and Year Round Camps
In January, Federation announced a COVID-19 vaccine requirement for all Camp JCC campers and staff that are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. While the Federation does not have a vaccine requirement for any of our other programs or activities, we felt it was important to recommend this policy, as camp is the most significant time that the Federation has responsibility for our community’s children without parental supervision.
As Wake County has moved into a low transmission area, the Federation has updated our policies for Camp JCC and has removed the requirements for face coverings, social distancing, and group size limits at camp. However, The COVID-19 vaccine requirement will remain in place for all Camp JCC programs. By law, we do allow for medical exceptions, and have worked with families in this process to ensure they are welcome at Camp JCC.
Thank you for your Partnership
We will continue to monitor the three metrics that are listed above and make any changes to our protocols that may be necessary. Thank you for your continued partnership, cooperation, patience, and feedback as we navigate this challenge.
