Courageous Conversation: Supporting Our Jewish Community

Phil Brodsky with Dr. Torri Staton,
Vice President of Diversity, Equity & Inclusivity for Raleigh Chamber

On January 26th, we had an extraordinary opportunity to talk to the Greater Raleigh community about the importance of fighting antisemitism and welcoming all.

Hosted by the Triangle DEI Alliance of Raleigh Chamber, we participated in “Courageous Conversation: Supporting Our Jewish Community.” Board Member Jasmine Medoff and I (along with Rabbi Eric Solomon of Beth Meyer Synagogue and Jared Resnick of Precision Fermentation), talked about our experiences of dealing with hate, and what business owners can do to be part of the solution.

This was the first time Raleigh Chamber had a Courageous Conversation event in person since COVID started.  They were hoping for 70 registrations—but they got 90! We can’t know how much knowledge of antisemitism the attendees had prior to the event, but the gasps I heard from the audience and the gracious thanks I received after the event made it clear that the problem had become real for them.

Thank you to Mark Goldhaber, Dr. Torri Staton, and Mark Dinitz for making the event possible. We look forward to future collaborations with Raleigh Chamber as we work together to make Greater Raleigh a welcoming, engaging, and empowering community.
