The Jewish Community Relations Council Condemns the Violence and Insurrection in Washington DC on January 6th

The Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) of Raleigh and Cary, here in the capital of North Carolina, condemns the lawlessness and violence that took place in our nation’s capital.

Our diverse Jewish community of Democrats, Republicans and Independents urge in the strongest possible terms that President Trump and other elected officials immediately cease incendiary rhetoric. We urge members of Congress and other responsible elected officials to speak out against the violence.

We thank law enforcement for keeping our elected officials and their staff safe. Those who have broken the law must be held accountable for their actions.

We urge Americans to stand together against politically motivated violence. We look forward to a coming year of strengthening the social fabric of our community and enhancing our ability come together to talk about issues that are important to us in the grand spirit of our American democracy and Jewish values.

The Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Raleigh-Cary stands in solidarity with African American victims of violence. We are horrified at the killing of George Floyd while in police custody.

We cry out for justice. It is simply unconscionable that in today’s United States of America all peoples are not treated with dignity and humanity.

Today, we stand shoulder to shoulder with all persons of color as fellow citizens.

We reject policies of hate and separation.

We reject words and actions that divide us.

We embrace love and understanding as we stand together at this difficult time.

We embrace peaceful demonstrations of support. Violence has no place in these demonstrations.

We offer concern and support to our local businesses and facilities victimized by violence.

And we praise those who came out to help clean up and rebuild.
