Meet Jorie Slodki, Content Manager!
CEO Phil Brodsky is on family leave for the next several weeks. During that time, enjoy our series of "guest writers" from different parts of the Federation!
Hello! I am Jorie Slodki, Content Manager for the Jewish Federation of Raleigh-Cary. Even if you haven't met me in person, you have a lot of contact with me. I write and coordinate our communications to the community, including weekly e-mails, blog articles, and social media posts. We want to be the central hub for information in the Jewish community, and that includes both sharing news about our events and events hosted by other Jewish and community organizations in our county.
I also staff our Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC). This is the part of the Federation that interacts with entities outside the Jewish community, including local and state governments, law enforcement agencies, houses of worship, and community organizations. We also respond to antisemitic incidents that happen locally.
While most people notice JCRC when we release public statements or discuss antisemitism, we also do the pro-active, behind-the-scenes work of relationship building that helps keep our community connected and secure. Check out some events we have coming up:
January 26–Courageous Conversation: Supporting Our Jewish Community, a panel discussion that we are holding with the Raleigh Chamber's Triangle DEI Alliance. (Also, did you know that the Federation just joined Raleigh Chamber?)
March 19–Our 2nd Annual Inter-Community Seder will bring together local business, houses of worship, and nonprofit organizations to discuss shared values over a Passover Seder. Look for volunteer opportunities coming soon!
Through relationship-building, we can work together to amplify the voice of the Jewish community! If you are interested in getting involved with JCRC, let us know.
Shabbat Shalom,
Jorie Slodki
