Connection Award 2023: Amy Fultonberg
At this year’s Annual Gathering, we held our inaugural Volunteer Awards. These awards will be given to volunteers who have best exemplified our Federation’s mission to provide care, connection, and community to the Greater Raleigh area. Our inaugural Connection Award went to Amy Fultonberg.
When Amy first moved to the Greater Raleigh area, she knew how important it was to find a circle of friends. After getting connected with Women’s Philanthropy, she proposed offering a group for women who liked to hike. For the last two years, Amy has organized Ladies Who Hike, a group that meets every other month to hike on the many beautiful nature trails in our area. The group is a social outlet for women of all ages, as well as a way to connect with nature in our busy world.
The group has also inspired members to develop stronger connections with the Jewish community. Members have organized JFS Food Pantry collections at hikes. After the October 7th attacks in Israel, hikers appreciated the opportunity to connect with others in a Jewish space.
Thank you, Amy, for creating a source of connection in our community. We’ll see you on the trail!
