Let’s Help Students in Hadera, Israel!

Our local Jewish community can support Israel through the 19th annual backpack campaign. When you take your family “back to school shopping,” you can purchase a new backpack and an extra backpack for a student living in Raleigh’s sister city of Hadera, Israel. That means this project involves 2 backpacks (one to keep and one to donate), 2 kids (American and Israeli), and 2 Countries (USA and Israel).

Backpacks have to be purchased in Israel, and they are quite expensive. Many parents in Hadera are unable to afford backpacks for their children. The social workers in this community have asked us to continue this project as it fills an important need.

Please consider buying a new backpack (without wheels) and bringing it to one of the following locations by Monday, September 23, 2024, to be collected in a purple box: 

• Beth Meyer Synagogue,

• Beth Shalom,

• Chabad of Cary,

• Chabad of Raleigh

• Jewish Community Center of Greater Raleigh

• Jewish Federation of Greater Raleigh (Creedmoor Road office)

• Temple Beth Or
