Be a Leader, Plan Our Seder!
At a time when the Jewish community feels more isolated than ever, building relationships with leaders beyond the Jewish community is more important than ever.
When I first began my time as CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Raleigh in 2020, one of my ideas was to create an Inter-Community Seder to bring together people from different backgrounds and interests. I knew the Greater Raleigh community would be ripe for an event like this, and what better way to introduce people to the Jewish community than with a model Passover Seder?
The Inter-Community Seder has become one of our signature events. This past April, the day after Israel was attacked by Iran, it felt so cathartic to be at the Inter-Community Seder with 150 leaders representing 45 different organizations.
The connections we’ve made at the Seder have led to productive dialogue with key groups outside the Jewish community, and we are working on organizing joint programs with groups for later this year and next!
The Inter-Community Seder has been shepherded by many key volunteer leaders and donors, including Mark and Sue Goldhaber, who chaired the event the last two years.
For next year, the Goldhabers are ready to pass the torch. We are looking for new chairs for our Inter-Community Seder for 2025.
Are you someone who enjoys building relationships with people from different backgrounds, enjoys meeting new people, and is creative with event planning?
If you are, please consider serving as the chair or being on the committee. We want to hear from you!
